Environment

The environment is an integral and self-evident part of our daily operations. Our long-term and conscientious efforts have led to us being classed as one of the leading green ports in Europe. We work actively, long-sightedly and strategically to create reliable and sustainable transportation.

The movement of people and goods is something that affects us all – it is a prerequisite for society to function. Creating long-term and sustainable means of transport is challenging and we continuously strive to ensure that shipping has as little impact on the environment as possible. For many years we have actively driven and introduced a range of initiatives and activities to reduce the effects our operations have on the environment. Our work has been recognised both nationally and internationally and we are regarded to be a role-model within the sector. We intend to maintain this position and we would like our efforts to continue to stimulate environmentally friendly transportation.

Port operations are diverse and so is our environmental work. We work together with several international and national organisations to jointly create the preconditions to make shipping greener. At the same time we are careful to ensure that we can offer our customers opportunities to reduce their environmental footprints. Differentiated port charges, awards and similar methods of recognition enable us to inspire our collaborative partners to work towards a better climate and reduced emission levels. Even when it comes to our properties we make large and small efforts annually to achieve more efficient energy use.

Environmental efforts are integral to all aspects of our operations and to support daily running activities we have a well developed management system, clearly defined objectives and action plans. Since 2004 we have held both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification.
