Stockholm-Nynäshamn, Norvikudden

We are expanding Stockholm-Nynäshamn, a modern port for rolling goods and container traffic in Sweden’s primary consumer and commercial region.

In what is Sweden’s largest area in terms of consumer demand and business density, we are planning to develop Norvikudden, Stockholm-Nynäshamn, a modern port for wheeled cargo and container traffic.

Nynäshamn has an outstanding position in the centre of the Baltic region and close to Sweden’s rapidly growing capital city.

The preconditions for an internationally competitive port are exceptional since the approach channel is easily navigated, straight and ice-free all year round. The depth of water in the planned dock is sufficient also for major vessels in the Baltic Sea.

With strategic planning and good opportunities of linking together marine transport with an upgraded railway network and developed roads for effective and sustainable transport, Nynäshamn is set to emerge as a leading logistics centre.

Facts in brief

- The port will have a water depth of 16.5 metres. This will allow calls by the largest vessels in the
Baltic Sea.
- The port area, when the port is completed, will cover 44 hectares.
- The completed port will offer 1,400 metres of quayside, seven quay-berths and four to five container cranes. This capacity will enable the annual handling of 300,000 teu and 200,000 Roll on-Roll off vehicles.
- The container operations will be run by Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), one of the world’s biggest terminal operators. HPH will provide cranes and other handling equipment.
- The construction start date will be set as soon as permits are granted. Four quay-berths will
be built during the first phase. The first vessel will call after around three years of construction.
The port will then expand according to market demands.
